Football – 1985 DBook

Season Smash

The 85′ football team made their varsity year one of the best ever seen at Davis. With only two losses, their first Freshman game and their last Senior game, it was an outstanding record that outshined most all other schools in the state. The team worked from the start of the summer, with aerobics and weights, until the end of fall with practices almost every day of the week. It was the most supported sport at the school, always with more fans on Davis’ side than on the other team’s, even if it was an away game. They deserved this highlight and much more for all that they accomplished during the season.

There is a part of this school that just won’t die. Some call it coincidence, some an abundance, fo luck , but Davis High calls it tradition. Junior and Sophomore football kept it going.

We learned to be together as a team.

The J.V. football team remained undefeated this year. The main purpose of J.V. football was to get ready for Varsity, although some of the J.V. players had the chance to play in varsity action.

The Sophomore football team also did a great job this year. Coach To Thompson’s goal was “to win each game one at a time.” They won each game by a wide margin, but they suffered a loss to Highland at the last game. The players spent hours upon hours just learning the basics to form a foundation. A powerhouse was in the making for future years.
